Today six T.Y's and a fifth year went to the Stars wars convention in the RDS in Dublin.16 of the T.Y's that went bag packing to help raise money for the charity Irish Autism were put into a draw to win one of these tickets. Load of people didn’t go because they thought that it would be very good and to be honest I was one of the people who were thinking of not going and I am really glad that I decided to go in the end because it was an amazing day.The tickets that we had won were for the press preview today before any members of the public were allowed in. So there weren’t many people there but it was still really good. The tickets. The doors opened around 12 after we had been waiting for a while. We had been taking some photos while we were waiting. Once we went in there wasn’t much there at all. Just a hall with people and an ice cream truck a few chairs and one or two other places that we could get food. We also soon found out that the ice –cream was for FREE!!!! Di...

Swim a mile with a smile..... :)

Image
Today the annual Swim a mile with a smile  took place in the  NAC . All of the transition years and the LCVP class went along to the NAC to take part. We left school around 9.05 and made our way to the national aquatic centre. Once we had arrived Mr. Daly came to talk to us about the swim and he also talked to us about some rules for the pool. After that we were told that the slides would be open for us after we swam our mile. Once we had all got changed we headed out to the pool and we were told what lanes we were going got be swimming in. Some people wanted to swim the mile by themselves so they all went in to a lane by themselves. Then the rest of the people were told what lanes they were in and we all got started. I wanted it to swim the mile on my own but I didnt think I was going to be able to so me and Kellie  swam as a team and Louise  counted for us. after about half an hour we joined up with  Zoe and and  Fiona then we swam as a team of four....

Time for some ballet.

Yesterday after our Easter feaster both of the T.Y classes headed off into town to see a ballet performance. We went to Belvedere College to see the national youth ballet. Hayley from Enmet was taking part in the ballet and that’s why we went to see it. Let me just say that Hayley was amazing and I think she made Ms B and Mrs L very proud indeed. There was three different performance. The first one I thought was to do with Easter but later Kellie informed me that It was the ugly duckling, then there was a beach themed I think and then there was one that had a family and they were looking for their son. I got confused with that one but it was still really good. I think that its kind of like acting but without the words. I didn’t think too much about going to the ballet, I had never been to one before and I wasn’t really all that bothered about it. I just thought that it was going to be another good day out in T.Y. I was very surprised at how much that I enjoyed it. It was so good and ...

English trip... :)

Image
Today all of the tys headed into town for our English trip. We had a jam packed day ahead of us with the plan that we were going to visit three different places. We were divided into our two lasses and despite our best efforts we were not allowed to Have Kellie in Amina for the day. Amina went to the W.B Yeats exhibition while Emnet went next door to the museum. Here is what I learned about W.B Yeats: The Yeats exhibition was really good and I found it very interesting. There was so much that I learned about William B Yeats that I didn’t know. He was such an interesting person. We were told that he wasn’t very good in school and it just shows you that anything is possible. He went from not being very good in his subjects to becoming a famous poet. I think that’s amazing. Maud Gonne was a person that was very involved in his life.  He met her in 1889 and was very much in love with her. He proposed to her many times and each time she refused. He proposed to her five times formally...

Here I come Poland.

So before mid-term we were told about a fifth and sixth year trip to Poland that is going to be happening. When I heard of this I really wanted to go. It’s all we talked about for a while. Especially me and Louise. When I got picked I was over the moon. I am so excited to get to. It is going to be amazing and it is going to be a once in a lifetime trip. The thing that I am looking forward to the most is going to the Salt mines and the concentration camp. It is going to be so good. I am so excited I can’t wait to go. November can’t come soon enough. Ever better yet almost all of me really close friends are going to.

Croke Park.

Today we went to Croke park to see the GAA m museum. We left school at 12 and it was a really fun and packed day. We started off by getting show a video and it show us what happens in the stadium before a match is played. It also showed us all of the different people that are involved in the different things in the stadium. After we were shown the video we went out under where all of the seats are and we were shown different things and told about them all. We went into some of the different places like the dressing rooms and the players’ lounge and where the players would go to physic and where they would warm up and things like that. It was pretty cool if you ask me. The players’ lounge was amazing. Once we had a bit of a look around in there and we all got nicer and warm and found cosy seats we were told about the history of the GA. What better way to be told history the on nice seats in a lovely warm room. One we had done that we then went to see the stadium we went out to the gra...

Poland

On Thursday during geography Mrs L told us about a 5th and 6 th year trip that would be happening in October during the mid-term. The trip is for 4 days and it is to Poland. There are lots of different things that we are going to be doing while we stay there for the 4 days. We will be staying Krakow. Some of things that we will be doing if we get to go to Poland are visiting that Auschwitz concentration camp going to Schnlinders factory seeing the birthplace of Pope John Paul the second and going to a water park. It sounds like an amazing trip and I would love to go but there are only 40 places available on the trip and there are lots of people that want to go. There is going to be a draw held to see who gets to go. All of the people who went to France in second year will be put into the draw but if their names get picked out they will be put on the waiting list giving everybody who didn’t go to France a fair chance.
