There's Always Light at the End of the Tunnel

Well the musical is over! :( I am not happy at all. It was such a great experience, this week has been so crazy on the go all the time. Really late nights and then early morning's for school. Monday night was basically our first proper dress rehearsal, it went really well :) Then Tuesday went better. Then on Wednesday and Thursday we got a standing ovation! It was amazing! All the hard work that we put into it, really paid off. Those last 12 weeks have been spectacular. From the first day the lads coming up to the school, to S.F being told he is as threatening as a Marsh mellow, to the torch scene, kiss scene orchestra practicing with us, the stress over the dancing that is in the musical, to the stress of putting it on stage. It was worth it all. Thank you to Ms.W and Ms.McG for doing this, they put so much time and effort into getting it perfect it all paid off :)) We all became a unit/family in the space of 12 weeks. Last night we had our annual music night in school. The aim of music night is to raise money for the music department in the school and to have fun of course. All of the T.Y,s were performing a song called Mama Said. We had been working on the song for a few weeks in music and then we started to work with the other T.Y class to make it sound even better. We added actions to it and a bit of movement to make it more lively not that it wasn’t lively enough or anything all ready but it made it more fun. In the beginning I didn’t really like the song and then we sang it so much so I didn’t like it at all but the days before music night AI began to like it again. I t was a good night and it was really fun. It was like the holy faith drama again waiting in a hall way until it was our turn to go on stage. So tomorrow is music night and today we were practicing our song Mama said. I'm looking forward to doing the song because after todays practice it was a lot better. the only problem that I have is standing on a stage in front of people :/

On Monday we finally got into our groups to perform the song that we have been working on for the most of the year so far. I was so nervous to get up in front of the whole class to sign with my group but it didn’t turn out to be so bad in the end. We sang the Man who can’t be moved by the script. We didn’t have any music to go with it was just our voices. Me and Lauren only had to sign the course with the rest of the group whilst Karen Davina Lauren and Oriana sang a solo each. After a few pauses filled with laughter we managed to finish it and it wasn’t too bad. It was fun I have to say and something that I would have never done before and I don’t think that I will be doing it again in a hurry. All of the groups got to go but one I think. In music today we started to work on our song for music night Mama Said. I kind of like it. I guess that we could be doing a worse song. Most people don’t like it. I guess that’s because it is very repetitive and there is not much words in it. I guess that its good because the it’s an easy song to sign it. But I’m sure that it will sound good on the night once both of the T.Y classes start to practice it together. We were also told about different things that we would be doing in music over the next month or so. We were told that we would be performing the songs that we have been working on inn groups for the other T.Y class next week and if not everybody got to do it we would finish them after we come back from mid-term. I am really nervous about signing in front of a class considering I can’t sign and well it’s just weird signing in front of people We were also told that in March we would be doing a percussion workshop. For music night the T.Ys are going to be singing a song..... :) This is the song that we are going to be singing. I didn’t like it the first time I heard it but after a few times I started to like it... :)

Today some people from the school choir and some of the T.Y's went to the orchard to sing some Christmas carols to help raise money for focus Ireland. We were told about it about two weeks ago and the T.Y’s were asked if they would come and sing as well. I decided that I would go because it was for a good cause and it would be a bit of fun. It wasn’t for too long it was only from one until three and it was a bit of fun too. The choir was very small today and there was only a hand full of T.Ys but there was enough people to make a good sound so the people would be able to hear us. We were standing up stairs in the orchard at the front so that people were able to see. We also had a banner on the railing so that people knew who we were. Once we had managed to get the banner the right way round we started off singing. Yesterday we had music. In music class on a Wednesday we do some work in our groups. The group that I am working in is singing the song “the man who can’t be moved” by the script. So far is coming along great. We have a bit of guitar in it and we also have some harmonies in it as well. Some of the other groups sound really good and are really loud. It is very hard to practice in class with everybody because it is so loud with all the different groups but its kind of fun. You get to hear everybaody else and nobody is just focusing all of their attention onto your group. Next week I think that we will be starting to perform in front of the other T.Y music class .I really don’t want to do that. It’s ok at the moment signing with the group that I’m in but in front of another class. It seems kind of scary I guess. But at the end of the day it’s all a bit of fun.
