Hotel Rwanda.

Yesterday in religion we started to watch another movie. The movie that we started to watch is Hotel Rwanda. Lauren very kindly brought it in so that we could watch it. This film is about the Rwandan Genocide. We have all ready watched a film about this topic. The film that we all ready watched was Sometimes in April. That movie was from an American perspective where as Hotel Rwanda is from a Rwandan perspective. This film is easier to watch now that we all ready know what’s going on after watching Sometimes in April. So Far the film has been god and it hasn’t been too hard to watch like sometimes in April. There has been nothing to bad and shocking but I’m sure that it will all come but hopefully it won’t be as bad as sometimes in   April especially at the end. The cover of the movie. Sometimes in April.

Today in religion we finished watching sometimes in April. A movie about the 1994 Rwandan genocide. I didn’t get to watch all of the film because the first time that we started to watch it Kellie couldn’t watch it so to keep her company I sat outside with her. I’m glad I didn’t watch it to be honest. It was explained to me so I had a fair idea what it was all about. Today we watched the final scene and it was horrible I was not expecting what I seen. I am never watching that movie ever again. It was horrible and I’m not usually like this when it comes to movies but that movie was just I can’t even describe how I feel after I watched it. The cover of the DVD. We are doing a work shop on it. We have to interview people. We were put into groups then each person got a role and then they have certain questions that they have to answer. The group that I am in is big so there was enough people to be one of the three main people from the movie. Once we have done the interview for the ...

Sometimes in April.

On Friday we started to watch a film called sometimes in April. This film is about the Rwandan genocide. We started to watch it for religion because we are learning about genocide. Both of the .Y classes went to the demo room after break to watch it together. We had planned to watch it for the three classes until lunch. The film was about the Rwandan genocide and it was between the two tribes called the Hutus and the Tutsi. The Hutus wanted to kill any Tutsis or moderate Hutus. I found the film very confusing but I dint watch it all. Kellie wasn’t able to watch the film because she found it too upsetting and from hearing everybody’s comments about the film it clearly was a horrible and sad film. I sat outside with Kellie to keep her company and to help keep her mind of things and I think that we managed to do a very good job at that. I dint mind sitting with her. After hearing what people said about the film I’m glad that I didn’t watch it in school. I think that I might see if I c...

Sometime in April.

For the last few religion classes we have been preparing to watch a film called sometimes in April. This film I think is about the Armenian genocide. So for the last few classes we have been looking at the meaning of genocide. And we finally started to watch the film today. We started it at the end of lass so we didn’t get to see much. But we have religion tomorrow so I’m sure that we will get to watch it then.

Gran Torino.

In religion today Ms KB was out so we had Ms R and we were watching Gran Torino again. The last day that Ms KB was out we started to watch it with Ms. so we watched some more of it today from where we left off. It’s a good film so far. I’m really starting to like it. It’s about an old man and a car and he was in the war and his wife died. So at the beginning it was kind of sad but now it’s stating to get better and more interesting. I’m looking forward to getting to watch the some more of it sometime soon in religion. I really want to find out what happens in the film.

St Bridget’s day.

So tomorrow is St Bridget’s day and today in religion we spent the class making St Bridget crosses. They were easy to make. We made them before in second year I think well some of us anyway. I couldn’t really remember how to make them but once I was shown what to do I was on my way and made it without making and disastrous mistakes. While we were making our crosses ms KB was telling us about St Bridget and was telling us different stories about her. Some people were also singing a song about St Bridget that we learned in primary school. So it was a really fun class today.

Religion Craft.

Today we had a religion craft class. We started making wall hangings for Christmas and advent. The class was divided into two different groups depending on what you wanted to do. For the advent wall hanging it is going to be made use fabric and for the Christmas wall hanging it is going to be made on canvas and different pictures painted onto it. We were show different wall hangings from other years and we were told that the standard was very high. We didn’t need to be told this as it was very clear from just looking at the wall hanging. Today was our first day doing it and everybody had brought in things that they thought might be useful. But we didn’t really start it today once we had split into our groups we then planned what we were going to put on each of them. I am working in the group that is making the wall hanging for advent and we are using different fabrics and things like that to make our wall hanging. It is really good fun and we all got a chance to say what we thought wou...

Advent wreaths.

Yesterday in religion we made a wreath for advent. It was only a small wreath and it had one candle in it. It is meant to be used an s a centre piece on a table. They were easy to make. We had to bring in all the things that we needed our self’s. It was easy to get them and we didn’t need that much anyway. All we needed was some oasis a candle and holder and then some greenery. We had them all finished in one class apart from the cleaning. A few of us stayed back for a few minutes to help sweep up the floor. Once we had them made we left them on the window sill until the end of the day when we had to come back to get them. Someone took a picture of them all on the window sill. It was really easy to make. All you had to do was put the candle in the oasis and then start to put all of the greenery into it. You have to soak the oasis the night before but I don’t know why. It was kind of fun making them. I have never made anything like that before so that was my first time.
