Blog makeover. :)

So I decided today that it was time for a change of scene. I was getting kind of tired of the template that I was using for my blog and I felt that it was really a time for a blog makeover. I didn’t find any of the backgrounds on blogger very appealing to me so I went onto Google to see if I could find any websites that you could get some blogger templates. To my surprise there were loads of websites and even more temples. I spent a good while looking at different websites and looking at different templates before I found the background that I liked the most.

It was really easy to put it onto my blog too. I had to find the instruction first because in the beginning I did have a clue what to do but the instructions were easy and very simple to follow and it only took a matter of minutes to get the new template for my blog.

This was the website where I got this template. Take a look and see if there is anything that you like. There are lots to choose from.

My sister's keeper.

Source.

In my other posts I have written about the book my sisters keeper  for m English homework so hopefully I done it right no I’m going to write what I thought about the book. Oh and sorry to anyone who read my last post who wasn’t finished reading the book if I ruined the ending on you I didnt mean for that to happen.

I love this book I have read it three times now and each time it still gets to me. I know what is going to happen yet you have to read it to believe it. The book is sad but it has it happy moments as well. There is many moments in the book that are really surprising and that you really dint expect these kinds of things to happen.

It thought that the book was so good. It’s worth reading and it’s the type of book that you can read over and over again and not get tire of it. It’s so different from the movie and I personally think that the book is far better than the movie. They change too many things in the movie so it won’t be as good as the book. I do like the movie and I think that it’s good to watch the movie but I would read the book first rather than watching the movie first.

My sister's keeper. Key moments.

During this book there are many key moments.
Here are six of the key moments.

The opening scene.
In the opening scene of the book we are introduced to Anna a thirteen year old girl who is talking about how she was conceived.  She tells us how she feels that most babies are un planned are they have been planned but not quite as planned as much as her. This scene is important because here we are given the back bone of the book. Here we learn about her sisters Kate’s rare form of Leukaemia and how Anna was conceived to save Kate’s life by acting as a donor. Her parents went to special doctors and got Ann genetically created so that she could be the perfect match for Kate. In this opening scene we also learn about her sisters Kate’s current medical condition and how she needs a kidney from Anna or she will die because she is in end stage renal failure.

My sister's keeper. Themes,Plot and Culture context .

I have just finished reading the novel “My sisters keeper” written by Jodi Picoult. I personally find this book moving and very inspirational.

source.
This book is about a family who had their  lives  turned upside down when their youngest daughter Kate was diagnosed who a rare form of cancer. With neither of the parents being a match and being able to act as a donor they then turned to their son Jesse but it turned out that he was neither a suitable donor for his sister Kate. To ensure that their daughter would have a good chance of surviving this horrible disease thy decided that they would have another child that will be genetically designed so that the new child would be a perfect donor for Kate. Now at age thirteen the donor child Anna has finally decided that she doesn't want to be a donor for her sister. This seems to happen all of a sudden when now her parents are asking Anna to donate a kidney to her sister who has reached the end stages of renal failure caused by her cancer. Anna has decided that she doesn't want to be a donor for Kate anymore and so she decides to sue her parents for the rights to her own body.

What you can do to help.

For activity six of this week’s blog challenge I made a movie using Reggie from Green Hero giving you tips on how you can help save the environment. I used this website to make the movie http://www.xtranormal.com/

And remember " You dont need superpowers to save the word." .

Water treatment plant.

For activity six well my activity five of the blog challenge. For this I am going to write a post about a trip I went on that had something to do with the envoirnment. for this trip I went to do some research for mini company with the rest of the people from Green Hero. We went yo the local Water treatment plant in Leixlip.

This was the first thing that we saw. These pipe’s bring the water in from the river . Here a chemical  is added to it to help make it safe to drink.

This is where some more safe chemicals go into the water to help make it clean.

These are the very dangerous pipes where the chlorine gas was kept. Only a tiny amount is added to the water to kill   the  bacteria.

The water goes through sand and gravel to get rid of the remaining dirt.
 .

Big pieces of dirt are taken out of the water in this part of the plant.

These machines helped to control the safe running of the water plant.

This is the filter that the water goes through before it is finally safe to drink

.

This is where all of the dirt and untreated water goes.

The water that we drink comes from the river liffey, but this water is not safe to drink straight away. The water goes through many different pipes and steps to make sure we can drink it without getting sick.    Different chemical’s are added to help kill all of the nasty germs in the water.Without all of the machines filters and pipe we would not be able to get the water that is safe to drink into our houses.

Polar bears.

For activity six, well my activity four I am going to make a slide show about polar bears that is simple but with useful facts about the animals. Instead of using animoto to make a slide shower about endangered animals I have decided just to use power point because I find it better and easier to use

.

Blog challenge.

For this week’s blog challenge there are six activities. For activities four and five I am not going to do because for number four I have nobody to interview and then for number five I don’t know what to write about. So for activity six it gives you a list of options of things that you can write about. So instead of doing one I’m going to do three so that I can make up for the two activities that I have skipped.
The options for activity six are:

·         Write a comic strip as a hero wanting to save some aspect of the environment.
·         Your worries regarding the environment – what can you do as a student?
·         Create an animoto about the environment – maybe you worry about the polar bears.  Find images from links on this post.
·         Write a post about an environmental field trip you went on, maybe to the rubbish dump or cleaning up a creek etc.
·         Create a movie about saving the environment – check out Abbey’s from last year.

I’m going to focus on the last three of these options.

Brady bunch.

The third activity of this week’s challenge is to talk about your family history and big family get together’s.

Well in my family I guess we don’t really do the whole big family get together’s. The only time that we really get together with the whole family with aunties and uncles and great aunties and great uncles and distance cousins is really at funerals and confirmations and that sort of thing. For most families you have your mam’s side and then your dad’s side. In my family I only know my dad’s side of the family. I don’t really know what else to say about my family because we don’t usually do the whole big family get together’s.

Heres some pictures of me and my brothers.
Me and my two brothers.
Me and Shane.
Me and Paul.

1916 Easter Rising.

For the second activity of this week’s blog challenge you have to write about a celebration that is used to remember a certain thing that has happened in your country. Seeing as how here in Ireland we are on our Easter holidays and I am going to write about the Easter 1916 rising in Ireland.

Each year on Easter Sunday the 1916 aster rising commemoration is held in Dublin at the GPO. This year is the 95th anniversary of the 1916 Easter rising

This was a big rebellion in Dublin on Easter week 1916. It was carried out by members of the Irish republican brotherhood and members of the Irish Citizens army. It was done as opposition to British rule in Ireland. It was the first uprising in Ireland since the 1798 rebellion.

Beforehand the Irish had planned to have a bigger amount of men to attack the city. But a man called Roger Casement was captured on the way back from Germany with guns and the Irish had very few guns so only about 1,250 men took part in the rising. Out of these about 300 went into the General Post Office (GPO) in Dublin led by Patrick Pearse and James Connolly. other groups took over different parts of the city like St Stephens Green, Shelbourne Hotel, Bolands Mills and Jacobs factory. At first the British put up no resistance because of the bank holiday but soon more of them came into Dublin to fight the rebels.

The biggest fighting happened at Bolands Mills where Eamonn DeValera had his men open fire on British soldiers called Sherwood Foresters while they landed in the city. The shootings here killed about 200 people and wounded several more. St Stephens Green was a big part of the fighting as well were the Irish lost a lot of men. After six days the Irish were exhausted and were being shot at by huge artillery pieces mounted onto a British ship called HMS helga. The GPO was badly hit and soon the Irish surrendered. 16 of the Irish leaders were shot by firing squad after the rising.

The British admitted that they lost 155 men to Irish gunfire and two hundred were wounded. The Irish rebels lost at least 70 men and over 1,000 of them were wounded. At least 100 Irish citizens were killed in the crossfire as well. After the rising Dublin was in very bad shape and several hundred people had been killed. But after the British shot the 16 leaders of the rising the Irish people soon felt sorry for the rebels and followed them. The 1916 rising was a major reason for the Irish war of Independence.

This is a video form the 1916 Easter rising commemoration in 2010.

Earth Day.

This week’s blog challenge is a mix of two different things. One is about the environment and animals that sort of thing while the other is about what your country does to remember an important event such as a war. Like I do every other week I’m going to work through the activities one by one.As i was reading through the e-mail and there were lots of activities that involved the environment it automatically made me think of Green Hero our mini company.

The first activity is about whether or not you did anything on Earth Day which was on Friday. I didn’t do anything to for earth day that would have impacted the earth in a good way. To be honest I didn’t really know that it was earth day anyway.

But here is a bit of information that i found on the internet about Earth day.

“For over 40 years, Earth Day—April 22—has inspired and mobilized individuals and organizations worldwide to demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.”

"The first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970, activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. The passage of the landmark Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and many other groundbreaking environmental laws soon followed. Growing out of the first Earth Day, Earth Day Network (EDN) works with over 22,000 partners in 192 countries to broaden, diversify and mobilize the environmental movement. More than 1 billion people now participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.
But Earth Day Network does not stop there."

The best moment of T.Y

Well when I decided to write this post I figured that it would be easy to pick a moment from T.Y that just really stuck out in my head as the best moment of the year. But then I started to think about it and I soon realised that it was really hard. I have had so many fun days where we would go on trips or watch movies in class or have quizzes or pay games or do our dramas so many different things like that. I’m guessing that most people will say that carlingford would be the best part of T.Y but I was sick so I didn’t get the chance to go to carlingford for the two days. I have been given so many different experiences and opportunities that it’s hard to pick the best one.

So after thinking about it for a while I came up with a few times in T.Y that really stood out form all of the rest.

Work experience being the first that was amazing. I never thought that I would like it as much as I did. Once you choose the right place to go for your work experience then you will have a brilliant week. Out of the two work experience the fire brigade training centre was far the best.

After that came mini company. I had mixed feelings about this for a while but now looking back on the whole experience it was an amazing experience. Is soon realised that I would not like to set up my own business one day. It was a lot of hard work but in the end all of Green Hero’s work paid off.

The Green Team with our first awards for the Get up and Go competition.
Green Hero at the National finals of the Get up and Go competition.

Going to Cork to perform our drama Noughts and Crosses in the final of the Briery Gap drama competition. I wasn’t acting in it but the people who were did an amazing job and as a result we won three different trophies.

Noughts and Crosses in Cork.

Noughts and crosses.

The highlight of my year would have to have been when I went up to Belfast for the Irish blog awards. That was the best night I have had in a long time it was so fun and relaxed for an awards ceremony. Thanks you Mrs L for nominating and helping me to make my blog what it is and thanks to everybody who has commented on my blog and read my blog. It is much appreciated.

These have only been a few of the best moments in T.Y if I was to write about all of them I would be here for the next week at least.

T.Y night.

Right now we are on our Easter holidays. Two weeks of doing nothing but hanging out with friends and relaxing and what seen better is that the sun has been shining everyday for the last week. After Easter there is only going to be 6 weeks left of T.Y this year has really gone by fast. After Easter there is not too many ore day trips planned I don’t think and that doesn’t really bother me too much. In some classes we have started to do work so that we will be more prepared for when we go into fifth year.

At the end of every T.Y year the transition years hold their T.Y night. This is when the make different stands in the school hall with all the different projects and things that we have been working on during the year there will be stands for things like art religion tech etc. Everybody has been assigned a subject that they will organise. I have been told that I am going to be working with Louise an we are going to be organising a stand for I.T

I’m really looking forward to T.Y night. The only thing is that this means that T.Y is going to end soon. Which well I don’t want to happen. I sure am going to miss T.Y and all of the fun classes, days out and in general the good fun and relaxed mood that you get in T.Y.

Hopefully fifth year will be fun. I’m not expecting it t be fun like T.Y but hopefully it will be good fun.

What do you think of Hitler?

So I have finally finished my end of year history project. I chose to do my project on Hitler and looked at weather he was a hero or a villain. I still believe after doing my project that he is very much a villain but take a look at my project essay and leave a comment letting me know what you think.

"Hitler a dictator, a murder, a monster. These are only a few of the words that are used today to describe  Adolf Hitler.

Adolf Hitler was born on the 20th of April in 1889. He was born into a big family. He was the fourth child of six. He became very much attached to his mother after his brother died. He had a very close relationship with his mother while he had a troubled relationship with his father who used to abuse him. When Hitler was growing up he wanted to become an artist but his father disagreed with this and wanted him to follow in his footsteps and become an Austrian customs official."

Come to the dark side.... :)

Today six T.Y's and a fifth year went to the Stars wars convention in the RDS in Dublin.16 of the T.Y's that went bag packing to help raise money for the charity Irish Autism were put into a draw to win one of these tickets. Load of people didn’t go because they thought that it would be very good and to be honest I was one of the people who were thinking of not going and I am really glad that I decided to go in the end because it was an amazing day.The tickets that we had won were for the press preview today before any members of the public were allowed in. So there weren’t many people there but it was still really good.

The tickets.

The doors opened around 12 after we had been waiting for a while. We had been taking some photos while we were waiting.

Once we went in there wasn’t much there at all. Just a hall with people and an ice cream truck a few chairs and one or two other places that we could get food. We also soon found out that the ice –cream was for FREE!!!!

Did I mention the ice-cream was fore FREE!!!!

Some of the characters soon started to come out so people could get in some photos with them. There was who I thought was Luck Skywalker but when I asked him was he Luck he said no. I later learned that he was ob1 Kenobi. I felt kind of stupid then for asking but he’s never going to see me again so it doesn’t really matter. Then there was some clones the bad guys. There were some good guys and then there was an Aileen thing but I don’t know his name and then there was the other man in a green suite that seemed to enjoy scaring people.

The girls and OB1 Kenobie.

The green scary guy.

The clones.

After another little while the exhibition was open and we could all go in. It was nothing  like I thought it was going to be but instead it was really good and I really did enjoy it. There were different things that you could get your photos taken, have lightsaber battles, get your face painted, meet some of the original cast members and you could by different things. After about an hour of wondering around having a bit of fun they called everybody and a guy who wrote books about star wars gave a speech.

After that near the end of the two hours that we had Dart Vader appeared. I got very excited when I saw him and I don’t even know why but I was however disappointed that Luke Skywalker never made an appearance. Everybody crowed around dart Vader and lots of people were getting photos taken.

I was still in shock in that photo and very very scared.

While we were waiting Kellie was standing behind me and to the side. She said hello out of know where which made me turn around. Then all of a sudden the guy that was dressed up in green had his head right at my shoulder. And to cut a long story short he sent me running away screaming because I got such a fright and the worst thing is that everybody and I mean everybody seen it happen because we were all in the same spot. Even dart Vader who was in the middle of getting his photos taken looked up to see me run away and scream.
After he scared me half to death he did give me a hug.... :)

After that we went around the hall again for a little while before we decided that we would go home then because it was almost two o clock and we were only allowed to stay until two o clock anyway. It was a brilliant day and I am glad that I went.

Student blogs.

I received an e-mail today form a guy called Ben. From the sounds of his e-mail he seems like a really nice person. He was e-mailing me about my blog. He was telling me that he had a blog and how he thought that it was really good that Mrs L encourages us to blog in school.
He told me about this website that he made sometime last year with two of his friends. It’s called irishstudentsblogs.com he asked me if I would like him to post my blog onto the website and I say sure why not. It’s a really good website and there is loads of different blogs. You should go and take a look at it. You never know your blog could end up there next.
Its a really good idea and you get to read blogs form people all around Ireland in so many different schools.

Ballet Videos.

Here are some videos from the National youth Ballet we went to see last week. Well done Hayley you made us all very proud. :)

My Sisters Keeper.

Source.

I have blogged before about this but Ms B wants us to blog as much as we can about the book that we are reading off the list for the prescribed text for the leaving cert. I have chosen to ready “My sister’s keeper” by Jodi Picoult.

I have read this book before and I have also watched the film. I much prefer the book as it is more interesting and the ending of the book is a lot better and completely different form the ending of the movie. Not trying to ruin the ending for anybody that is reading that book but it is totally unexpected form what you might think.

So before I go back to school after the Easter holidays I am hoping to have the book finished and I think that once I sit down to read it I will have it finished. I have to write a book review about the book when I’m finished and that is going to be part of the result I get fro English at the end of the year. So I’m not going to write too much about the book and what I think about it now I’m just going to talk about what I think of it and how I’m getting on with it now as I am reading it.

I can’t really say what chapter I’m on rather what day I’m on Wednesday sop like chapter three. In each day there is like sub chapters in it from the different people that are in the book. The different people that I have come across in the book so far are The mom Sara, The dad Brian, The brother Jesse, the Sister Anna she healthy sister, the lawyer Campbell And the guardian ad litem.  Each of the sub chapters are written in that persons point of view. For everybody so far they have been talking in the present but when the mom Sara is talking she talks about the past when her daughter Kate is first diagnosed with Cancer and how they cope with that and then why their other daughter Anna was born to help save her sisters life.

At the beginning of the book we first hear form Anna and how and why she was conceived, so that she could save her sister life. I found that really interesting and wondered to myself if I have a daughter who was dying from Cancer would I have another child so that I could save the other. I thought about it and I guess that I would but then again have one child just to use her to save the other. It seems a bit selfish like you only wan the child for one reason like she is only spare parts for her sister. What kind of life would it knows that your parents only want to have another child so that they could save the one that they all ready have.  That’s one thing that I really like bout this book it gets you thinking about what you would do in that situation.

The book is very sad but it is also kind of happy. It’s really about family, friend and love. It’s about the different things that you would do for your family because you love them. I like how the book looks at a person’s life. I mean like usually people only see the outside of a persons life but in the book you learn about the inside of there life. It’s hard for me to put into words what I’m trying to say. Even in the book when the Guardian ad litem goes to the Fitzgerald’s house she talks about how she thinks she is at the wrong house because on the outside everything looks perfect but when n you look deeper and go inside you really see that everything is not picture perfect like on the outside.

Right now I am at part of the book that I don’t really like. It’s when the lawyer and the guardian ad litem are working on the Fitzgerald case. When they were younger they went to the same school and they were in a relationship. Its now been fifteen years since they had seen each  other and a lot of what is going on in the book now is about there relationship in the past and what caused them to break up in the past. I don’t really like this part of the book because it takes away for the main story line. But then again I think that it’s good that its there because it provides a bit of a break and gives the readers a chance to take in everything that is going on in the book. I know that what I wrote there I just contradicted myself but anyway.

I’m enjoying reading the book and now I’m really starting to get into it so hopefully I will be finished it in no time. And here’s hoping that I will be able to write a good book review and do the book justice.

Internet safety

For the last activity in this weeks blogging challengeyou have to write a post about how you learn about internet safety. And well I guess that this is going to be a short post because the way I learn about internet safety is form people tell me about it.

What would we do without words?

Activity six of the blogging challenge is to make a wordle for your blog. This is my wordle, make your own here.

Wordle: Untitled

I cant make it any bigger without it going all blurry so click here to see it bigger.

My interview with Kellie... :)

As part of the blogging challenge for activity five we have to interview a person who visits and reads your blog. Kellie form the other T.Y class reads my blog so I interviewed her.

What do you like most about blogging?
"Sharing my day with other people"

Are you happy that you have started a blog?
“Yes, blogging really helps me channel a bad day into something good by helping me reflect on the good and happy things that have happened that day

Do you like reading other peoples blogs?
“I love reading other people's blogs. I really like hearing what people did during the day and how they felt about that event

What do you look for in a blog?
“I look for humour, details and feelings and emotions in a blog

Do you leave many comments on people’s blogs?
“I only leave comments on blogs that really caught my eye or I found amusing or interesting

Are you going to continue blogging after transition year?
“I think I will continue after TY because it makes me happy when I blog.

Thank you Kellie. To see Kellie’s blog click here.

Widget Choice.

Activity four is where you have to write about the different widgets that you have on your blog. I have a few so I’m only going to write about one or two of them rather than them all.

I made a voki. This gives a little introduction to my blog. I made this because Mrs L made one and put it onto the T.Y blog. I though that it would be fun to try and make one. It was really fun especially designing the avatar. Mine is an alien. I wanted to be different when I was making mine rather than make one that is a person. You were able to record you own voice talking or you could use one of the voices that were on the website and type in what you wanted to say. I chose to record my own voice. I t was good fun making it and it just gives a bit of an introduction to my blog. You should try and make one. It’s really easy. If I can do it anybody can do it.

My cluster map is on my blog because it was part of Mrs L blog challenge for the year that we put a cluster map onto our blogs. I wanted to have everything done in this challenge to I put one into my sidebar. It was really easy to get a cluster map to. It’s also really cool to see where all the people come from to look at your blog and you also see the amount of people that come and visit your blog. I never imagined at the start of the year when I started blogging that people from different countries would come and read my blog so seeing where they come from on a map is pretty cool I think.

I put the Google site translator onto my blog because it was part of the student blog challenge that I am taking part in. I didn’t think much about putting it on my side bar but now when I’m thinking about it I think that its weird no that people can read my blog in different languages. And now I don’t have to write posts in different languages so that people from different countries can read my blog.

What have you learned?

As part of the blog challenge for the third activity you have to think about things that you have learned outside of school. This isn’t like an important lesson or anything so I’m not sure if I’m writing about the right type of thing here.

Well outside school the main thing that I have learned is athletics. Athletics is a huge pat of my life and I have been doing it for the past about 8 years at least.Athletics ran in my family. My dad when he was younger use to do athletics so naturally it went onto my brothers and then me. My dad use to coach it too. My brother Shane was a race Walker, my brother Paul is a sprinter and me I’m a thrower.

Athletics is really important to me. It gives me a felling that I belong to another community and it helps me relax. When I’m training I’m having fun and nothing that is happening anywhere else can bother me. I’m focused and nothing stops me from being focuses. It’s a great way to relax and unwind especially after a long day at school.

Athletics has had a huge impact on my life. It has thought me never to give up and that eventually you will find something that is right for you and you will then succeed.  It has thought me that there is more to life than just school. It is part of me and I don’t think I will be giving up athletics any time soon. I guess athletics is what keeps me going.

What have you learned outside of school?

Review time.

Well for the second activity of the blog challenge you have to write a review of what your teacher has thought you since September or about what you have learnt during the student blog challenge. I have decided to write about what I have learned during T.Y.  You would be surprised at the amount you learn in Transition year. I have learned lots form doing all of the project and form going on different trips. I learned about W.B Yeats ,the state Labs and so much more. I have learned loads about different places and culture from doing different projects. From blogging and Mrs L blog challenge I have learn to do so many different things on a computer that are really helpful.

I'm not going to writ about all of the different things that I have learned during T.Y rather I'm going to write about what I have learned about myself during T.Y.

So at the start of the year I was quiet and I guess I still am. But during T.Y I have learned to communicate better with people. I have learned that now I am able to communicate with people much easier than before and I’m not finding it as hard to start a conversation. Even now I think that when it comes to talking with teachers as well I am much more at ease than I was before T.Y. I’m still quiet but I’m not as quiet as I was at the start of the year. I have learned that it’s ok to be yourself and not hide who you are form people.

I have learned that I can work well in groups. Before T.Y  I use to hat working in groups because I was always scared to voice my opinion because I was worried about what people might think about me but not anymore I don’t care about what people think about me as much as I use to. I think that T.Y has made me learn who I am….. :)

I have found out things that I am good at and things like that since the start of T.Y. I have found out that I love blogging too. I have learned so much about myself since I have started T.Y and I am glad that I did T.Y and that I was able to find out all of these things... :)

Class blog.

As the first activity in the sixth blog challenge (I have finally caught up) you have to write a blog post in a persuasive style of writing. They gave you some topics that you could choose or you could decide to write about your own topic. I choose one of the topics that they gave us. The topic that I have chosen to write about it That all classes should have a class blog.

I think that in schools all classes or even the different years should have a blog. I think that this would be good because it helps them reflect on their experiences but it will also help other students in years under them.

For example I think that the first years should have a blog. This would help people who are going to be starting first year have some idea of what to expect.  Most people who are going into secondary school have no idea what to expect I think its kind of like being put into the deep end of a pool and not knowing hoe to swim. The first years should have a year blog or even a class blog outlining their experiences of their first days, how people helped them, what the homework is like, what’s good and what’s  bad about going into secondary school. This way they might feel more at ease about starting in a new school.

It would be easy as well to set up a class or year blog. Have one person in charge of uploading things to the blog and everybody can submit things to go on the blog. In T.Y this year we all started blogging about our transition year experience. As well as us all having our own T.Y blogs Mrs L the T.Y co-ordinator is in charge of the T.Y year blog. Here she takes other people posts and put them up or writes posts about the different things that are happening in T.Y.

I think that First years and T.Y having blogs would be a good idea. The T.Y s having a blog helps the third years to decide weather or not they want to do Transition year. The first years having a blog gives that new incoming first years the chance to see what it is going to be like and for them to get an idea rather then just going into a new school having no idea what it is going to be like.

I know this post is not really persuasive but I think that it would be a really good idea if the first years in St Wolstans were to have a year blog.
